Miami Heat 3-Player Foam Hand | Dime Magazine (dimemag.com) : Daily NBA News, NBA Trades, NBA Rumors, Basketball Videos, Sneakers
from Aron Phillips of Dime Magazine

The Heat need 1 more player, I’m not convinced they will come out of the East to play the Lakers for the Title.
The question is whose reign will live longer, The 3 Amgios or the 4 Horsemen?

Dungy Knocks Ryan

HBO has given Rex Ryan his platform to dive into the homes of viewers across the country. Ryan is a polarizing figure that has a propensity to use the f-bomb as a noun, verb, and/or adjective. His unabashed candidness can be viewed as refreshing as the air in Cortland, NY where the show, Hard Knocks is filmed. At the same time his inclination to use the f-bomb can be construed to be as repulsive as the swamp surrounding the Jets new home in New Jersey.

The most vocal of the Ryan dissenters is Tony Dungy. Dungy has been quoted as saying, “I would not [hire Ryan]. I personally don’t want my players to be around that. I don’t want to be around that. . . . It’s hard for me to be around that, and if I were in charge, no, I wouldn’t hire someone like that.” Fortunately for Rex Ryan, Tony Dungy is neither the owner nor general manager of the Jets.

Tony Dungy has unofficially been anointed as the moral compass of the NFL. His work with Michael Vick has been well-documented. Dungy will leave a larger legacy in life off of the field than he did on it. However in this case Dungy is out of bounds in criticizing Ryan.

Ryan needs to coach his team as he deems fit. If the ire of Commissioner Goodell or Jets owner Woody Johnson is drawn it is within their right to admonish Ryan, not Dungy’s. Dungy is free to express his opinion but this time his thoughts are based on his personal beliefs and not on football. Dungy should leave his criticisms of Ryan to how his team performs. Dungy believes that Michael Vick deserves a second chance but Rex Ryan is unhireable, fathom that.

The irony of this is that Dungy had been criticized as a coach for being too calm and too laid-back. Perhaps he could have taken a cue from “Sexy” Rexy and dropped a few f-bombs to motivate his teams. Maybe then his Colts could have won more Super Bowls if Dungy were more like Ryan? When these two men meet to discuss their ideologies, Dungy should stay true to himself as should Ryan. Who knows if either side will bend, but it will be good theatre.

Dungy will always be known for his quiet strength. Does this mean that Ryan will eventually be known for his loud weakness? What Ryan will be known for is what his Jets do or do not accomplish. If they reach the pinnacle and win the Super Bowl, Ryan will be Hard to Knock.

broadwayjoe

The brainchild of Super Bowl Champion Broadway Joe Namath has hit the internet with a splash!
Before Mark Messier Guaranteed a win vs The New Jersey Devils in the 1994 Conference Finals. There was another New Yorker who made his call to fame by Guaranteeing a win in Super Bowl III vs the Mighty Baltimore Colts in sunny Miami, Florida.
The retired Jets Veteran put the C in Cool when “Broadway” Joe Namath led his New York Jets team to Victory has now taken his fame off Broadway and into Cyberspace. One of the first athletes to make it big on Madison Avenue in his hey day after one of the greatest upsets in sports history. Broadway Joe Namath is one of the few NFL Veterans who is still relevant almost 3 decades after retiring from the game he loves. Broadway Joe was one of the first Athletes to take advantage of his new found fame and converted that into legendary fame through endorsements. Here are some commercials that put Broadway Joe’s Star power to work in the 70s.

TommyDeeTKB Breaks Lebron Free Agency Story at Midnight

Dear Lebron,

It’s been a long time since I’ve actually wanted to say anything towards you but I feel compelled as a Sports Historian and purist to throw my hat in before the Free Agent Talks begin in less than 9 hours from now.

I bleed the Knicks Blue and Orange and I have had so many disappointments as a fan over the past 38 years. I was 2 years old the last time the Knicks won the NBA Title so that doesn’t count for me as #1. Growing up as a little kid, I wanted to play at the Garden one day.
001308698

My dream was to play for Georgetown and Coach Thompson in the late 80s. The epic battles and the 1984 title cemented that love for the Garden when they’d come to town every year and during the Big East Tournament. When Patrick went to the Knicks I gave them 4 years to win the title. In 1994 we were 1 possession away from winning it all, I could taste the title and see the trophy in Patrick Ewings’ hands. A missed 3 and a bad Game 7 spelled doom , A 5 game beat down to the Spurs and were going on Year 37 without a crown to wear.
