Summer Time is almost Over. Update #1

Hurricane Irene has left millions without power down the Atlantic Seaboard and in many parts of the Northeast.
I write to you today to discuss some upcoming changes and the future for this site. Bottom Line, I want to give back and give aspiring writers, photographers who are pursuing degrees in those respective fields on the collegiate level a platform where they can showcase their work on campuses throughout the country.

After seeing what my sister went through in trying to obtain an internship and then going the graduate school route and amassing close to 6 figure debt with almost no portfolio or help other than 1 or 2 professors. The National Sports Daily which began and ended after 150 million dollars in cash was literally used up like the 80s classic film Brewster’s Millions (In which Richard Pryor must exhaust 30 million dollars in 30 days without acquiring a single asset in order to win an inheritance of 300 million dollars!) Trust me the National was not going to reap and additional dollar for such frivalous spending before the dawn of the internet circa 1990.

I’ve mulled it over and have spoken to many writers, sports historians and former employees of The National. It was well received,way ahead of it’s time and it really was the Internet in writing. With great box scores and crossword puzzles to name a few, to this day The National is still on many sports writers minds as witnessed in the new Grantland piece The Greatest Paper That Ever Died written by Alex French and Howie Kahn.

There are many websites out there where writers can hone their craft from the confines of their homes or as many seem to believe their basements and a cable tv subscription or online access to ESPN3.com.

Reviewing this model over and over again out of necessity and borderline cyber squatting on this domain for years before going online with my own personal views of a few topics. It’s time for a website to give an insiders view on a daily basis from campus! With Social Media growing into the consciousness of millions of people around the world, access to sports information and informative chatter is 24/7 365 days a year. The Smartphone and Tablet revolution is furthering  the world’s thirst for Instant updates.

With that being Said, the next phase of The National Sports Daily will come shortly.
